It happens all the time, we walk by an empty desk and there is someone who has just sat up their office. There is a twinkle in their eye and a hopeful, joy in their voice as they smile and introduce themselves. Yes, they are the newest and brightest Realtors, each ready to sell to all their family and friends and probably have already decided they will represent themselves in their own transaction of selling their own home. Many dream of driving around showing houses, leisurely lunches, and huge paychecks. So many fade when the realization of courage needed, budget planning, and the amount of skill one must have to wrap it up into a beautiful package.
It wasn’t that long ago that I was a NEW agent, but it was many transactions ago. I aspired to be a Great Realtor and have survived some very difficult markets that season agents gave me the courage to tough it out! My answer is always, Keep Learning! I have spent many hours in a Class Called Field Skills with the whole premise being Practice, Drill, and Rehearse.
About a year and half ago, we had a Newbie Ana Spradling, join our class. She was very cheerful lady with a huge smile, who came into the room prepared and ready to go. I noticed a few days later, she was in one of our conference rooms filling out a contract. I stuck my head in and asked her if she was okay. She smiled and if I remember right she had one question. I asked her if she was writing a contract and if she wanted to walk through it. She explained it awesomely paragraph to paragraph in each page with great confidence.
After her second Monday, she met me after class and asked me if I would meet weekly so she could have a forum to ask questions. This was odd, as I had just written in my personal goals that I wanted to begin to mentor more after hearing my instructor explain how our class had pushed him to excel and constantly challenges him. We met and I was in awe, this young lady had had a client who wanted to buy some land and she found some that was For Sale by Owner. She called the owner, negotiated that deal and he hired her to list all his lots. Read her blog about this subdivision and you will see why this girl rocks Real Estate!
Ana was a mover and a shaker from the moment I met her and I have to say I was so impressed. She was so genuine and appreciative. She shared her secrets that she learned, some of them worked so good that I even fabricated in my mind that they were my ideas. (I say this to tell Ana , Thank You for Sharing!) She went on to outsell her goal 4 times over. I occasionally hear people say she is lucky. She is so lucky to have the intelligence, gumption, courage, and skill to make things happen.
As Ana and I have said our Good Byes for now, I have learned some very valuable lessons. One was that she had learned how to generate the leads but in the beginning she did not have the skill to turn them into buyers and sellers.
She had the courage to put herself out there and she asked everyone their best tips. And she listened, tweaked, and implemented great ideas into money producing results.
I know all of our Monday Morning Class will miss Ana! We sent her off with a cheerful, happy celebration. I figured she would say her goodbyes, and close the door to this chapter, but she has asked for us to Skype her into the meeting as she has grown with the stories, advice, and skills training we have done here at Murney Associate Realtors.
The best advice I share with everyone, Grow, Grow, Grow! You will want to meet Ana through Active Rain.
Best Wishes Ms. Ana, we know you are going to sell all of Kansas City, after all you are the Realtor with Real Results!!!!!
